Manjhi the mountain-man which is based on true events is one of the most remarkable stories we have seen on screen the chef manjhi the mountain man was born into a dirt-poor family in a low caste rat eating community in a remote village in Bihar the village was cut off from the outside world by a mountain the mountain made movements so difficult that his wife died because she couldn't get remedial attention in time so - of manjhi the mountain man spent the next 22 years carving out a road with a hammer and a chisel the man literally moved a mountain and 52 years after manjhi the mountain man started digging the Indian government actually created a paved road in the area.

  he leaves his children to his alcoholic father wills himself to survive a cobra bite and a drought and even walks to Delhi to fight for the money that the administration promises him at times his monomaniac request echoes a hab search for moby dick in places it seems too fantastical to be true but nawazuddin grounds manjhi the mountain man in an affectionate reality thankfully he never allows manjhi the mountain man  to become a saint it's a display powerful enough to help us navigate the awkwardness of the screenplay by Mehta & Mahindra jockle admittedly this is a strong story to tell how do you insert drama into a man chipping away at a mountain the screenplay goes back and forth in the chronology with a voiceover randomly stitching the scenes together important characters appear and disappear Tigmanshu Dhulia plays the stereotypical feudal lord.

 who brutalizes the villagers in a few scenes and then reappears much later like him are the characters enough dangling and climactic incidents find no culmination the first half is specially jerky rava Kvapil a plague manjhi's wife is lovely but their relationship is used in an overly emotional manner when manjhi the mountain man hits his weakest point his wife appears as a vision to motivate him to keep striving but digitally created images of the mountain are also awkward Keaton aspires to find poetry in manjhi the mountain man grand passion he doesn't always succeed but this story is so compelling that it will inspire you to move your own metaphorical mountains.
